DESCRIPTION:Smithgall Woods – Dukes Creek Conservation Area is a state pa
 rk consisting of 5\,663 acres of mountain woodlands that rise along the Du
 kes Creek watershed.\n\nDate: Saturday\, October 21\, 2017\nTime: 8:00 am 
 at Intown Church\nDifficulty Level: D2 (easy)\nHiking Distance: 5  miles\
 nCost: $10 per person\n\nLaurel Ridge Trail\n1.6 miles\nLocated adjacent t
 o our Visitor Center\, this interpretive trail is a moderate 1.6-mile loop
  that climbs to Laurel Ridge and provides a seasonal view of Mt. Yonah\n\n
 Dukes Creek Falls Trail - with connector trails\n2.5 miles\nIt is a series
  of three switchbacks that lead down to falls on Davis Creek at its conflu
 ence with Dukes Creek. There are water cascades on Dukes Creek While the p
 athway is remarkably level\, it descends more than 400 feet on the half-mi
 le walk. The sound of the waterfall can only be heard at the middle of eac
 h switchback\, fading as the next turn approaches. Where the footpath swit
 ches back the sounds of the forest are louder than the falls. After the se
 cond switch the path now narrows considerably. At the falls three more obs
 ervation decks have been built into a boardwalk. It's cool here\, courtesy
