SUMMARY:Hiking - Raven Cliff Falls Trail - #_LOCATIONNAME - 17 Oct 15 08:30
DESCRIPTION:Carpool Time: 8:30 am at Intown Community Church\nDriving time:
  1.5 hours\nDistance: 5 miles or 7 miles\nDifficulty Level: D2 (maybe D3)\
nCost: $10 per person for 4 people traveling in a car\nHike Leader: Rony\n
&nbsp\;\n\nRaven Cliff Falls are reached by the Raven Cliffs Trail that fo
llows Dodd Creek to the falls. The trail\, which is about 2.5 miles (4.0
km) in length\, is relatively easy to hike until near the end. From 2\,0
40 feet (620 m) at the trailhead near Bear Den Creek the path slopes gen
tly upward to 2\,600 feet (790 m) at the base of the falls. Blue blazes
mark the trail\, which is easy to follow.\n\nThe trailhead lies just off t
he Richard Russell Scenic Highway. From the parking area the trail runs no
rthwest into a scenic valley teeming with mountain laurel\, rhododendron\,
mixed hardwoods and moss-covered seepages. Along the way the trail passes
smaller waterfalls\, clear pools and cascading whitewater. The trail ends
at an impressive 80-foot (24 m) cliff formation split down the middle wi
th Raven Cliff Falls in between. A steep path leading to the top of the cl
iff offers wonderful views of the valley and the creek below.\n\nAfter hik
ing Raven Cliff Falls if people have the energy we may travel down the roa
d a little and hike Dukes Creek Falls. This is a 2 mile hike which ends at
  a high beautiful waterfall.\n\nThings to bring:\n- 1-1.5 liters of water\
n- Good hiking shoes or boots\n- Layered clothing\n- Hat and maybe gloves\
n- Lunch or snack.\n- Camera (optional)\n\nWe are creating a fund for the
hiking group. This is to help compensate drivers if they should experience
damage to their vehicles while driving or incur any fines for road violat
ions or parking. We ask that every person hiking gives a $1 donation each
time they hike\, which will be collected when you sign the waiver document
when you arrive. This money is separate from what you pay the driver for
 gas costs.\n\n&nbsp\;
