 a’s largest state park is a hiker’s and backpacker’s haven. More tha
 n 40 miles of trails\, including the popular 23-mile Pine Mountain Trail\,
  wind through hardwood and pines\, over creeks and past small waterfalls. 
 Many visitors are surprised to find rolling mountains 80 miles southwest o
 f Atlanta. Above King’s Gap is Dowdell’s Knob where President Franklin
  D. Roosevelt sometimes picnicked and pondered world affairs. A life-size 
 sculpture of the President now welcomes visitors to the overlook.\n\nThe P
 ine Mountain Trail footpath that crosses and follows the beautiful Pine Mo
 untain ridge\, offers clear crisp views of distant ridges in winter\, with
  occasional snowfall\, to the lush greens of summer ferns and foliage of l
 owland flora. Wildflowers are abundant and spring brings flowering dogwood
 \, native azalea\, mountain laurel and rhododendron. Fall brings bright an
 d beautiful colors\, changing from day to day. With the connector trails t
 hat form seven loops there are over 40 miles of hiking trails for your enj
 oyment.\n\nWe will be hiking the around 5- 6 miles on the trail\n\nBefore 
 the hike\, we plan to visit Roosevelt's "Little White House"\n\nThings to 
 bring:\n- 1 - 1.5 liters of water\n- Good hiking shoes or boots\n- Layered
