 er: Rony\n\nAt 9\,049 acres\, Georgia’s largest state park is a hiker’
 s and backpacker’s haven. More than 40 miles of trails\, including the p
 opular 23-mile Pine Mountain Trail\, wind through hardwood and pines\, ove
 r creeks and past small waterfalls. Many visitors are surprised to find ro
 lling mountains 80 miles southwest of Atlanta. Above King’s Gap is Dowde
 ll’s Knob where President Franklin D. Roosevelt sometimes picnicked and 
 pondered world affairs. A life-size sculpture of the President now welcome
 s visitors to the overlook.\n\nThe Pine Mountain Trail  footpath that cro
 sses and follows the beautiful Pine Mountain ridge\, offers clear crisp vi
 ews of distant ridges in winter\, with occasional snowfall\, to the lush g
 reens of summer ferns and foliage of lowland flora. Wildflowers are abunda
 nt and spring brings flowering dogwood\, native azalea\, mountain laurel a
 nd rhododendron. Fall brings bright and beautiful colors\, changing from d
 ay to day. With the connector trails that form seven loops there are over 
 40 miles of hiking trails for your enjoyment.\n\nWe will be hiking the aro
