 er/Rony\n\nAt 9\,049 acres\, Georgia’s largest state park is a hiker’s
  and backpacker’s haven. More than 40 miles of trails\, including the po
 pular 23-mile Pine Mountain Trail\, wind through hardwood and pines\, over
  creeks and past small waterfalls. Many visitors are surprised to find rol
 ling mountains 80 miles southwest of Atlanta. Above King’s Gap is Dowdel
 l’s Knob where President Franklin D. Roosevelt sometimes picnicked and p
 ondered world affairs. A life-size sculpture of the President now welcomes
  visitors to the overlook.\n\nThe Pine Mountain Trail  footpath that cros
 ses and follows the beautiful Pine Mountain ridge\, offers clear crisp vie
 ws of distant ridges in winter\, with occasional snowfall\, to the lush gr
 eens of summer ferns and foliage of lowland flora. Wildflowers are abundan
 t and spring brings flowering dogwood\, native azalea\, mountain laurel an
 d rhododendron. Fall brings bright and beautiful colors\, changing from da
 y to day. With the connector trails that form seven loops there are over 4
 0 miles of hiking trails for your enjoyment.\n\nWe will be hiking the arou
