 w Mountain National Battlefield Park is a 2\,923 acre National Battlefield
  that preserves a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. Opposing
  forces maneuvered and fought here from June 19\, 1864 until July 2\, 1864
 . Although most famous as a Civil War battlefield\, Kennesaw Mountain has 
 a much richer story.\n\nThere is a fairly steep climb to the top of Kennes
 aw Mtn at the beginning of the hike and also a smaller climb up Little Ken
 nesaw Mtn partway through the hike. Rest of the trail is mostly downhill o
 r flat. Some parts of the trail can be narrow or washed out. There are gre
 at scenic views and interesting rock formations on this hike.\n\nWe will b
 e hiking a 5.5 miles loop from the Visitor Center to Pigeon Hill.\n\nThing
