 ational Battlefield Park is a 2\,923 acre National Battlefield that preser
 ves a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. Opposing forces mane
 uvered and fought here from June 19\, 1864 until July 2\, 1864. Although m
 ost famous as a Civil War battlefield\, Kennesaw Mountain has a much riche
 r story.\n\nThis is a great beginners hike which is close to Atlanta. Ther
 e is a fairly steep climb to the top of Kennesaw Mtn at the beginning of t
 he hike and also a smaller climb up Little Kennesaw Mtn partway through th
 e hike. Rest of the trail is mostly downhill or flat. There are great scen
 ic views and interesting rock formations on this hike.\n\nWe will be hikin
 g a 5.5 miles loop from the Visitor Center to Pigeon Hill.\n\nThings to br
