The Laurel Ridge Trail explores the bank of the Chattahoochee River, climbs low foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and ventures into coves claimed by Lake Lanier. In the first half mile of the trail there are several long-distance views of Buford Dam and Lower Pool Park. Starting in 1950, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built Lake Lanier. The Laurel Ridge Trail explores the southern end of the lake, climbing through foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and exploring coves that are now claimed by the lake.
After hiking the trail, we will hangout at the lake beach area. You can go for a swim if you like to.
