SUMMARY:Black Rock Mountain State Park - #_LOCATIONNAME - 21 Jun 25 08:00
DESCRIPTION:Date: Saturday\, June 21\, 2025\nTime: 8:00 am at Intown Church
 \nDifficulty Level: D3 (moderate)\nHiking Distance: 5 - 6 miles\nCarpool C
ost: $20 per person\n\nBlack Rock Mountain State Park is Georgia's highest
state park that encompasses some of the most outstanding scenery  in Geo
rgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Roadside overlooks provide spectacular 80-m
ile vistas\, and four hiking trails lead visitors past wildflowers\, strea
ms\, small waterfalls and lush forests. Visitors can enjoy the summit visi
tor center for its views. At an altitude of 3\,640 feet\, Black Rock Mount
ain is often cooler than other Georgia parks.\nTennessee Rock Trail\nThe y
ellow-blazed Tennessee Rock Trail\, winding its way through some of the hi
ghest and lushest forests\, is the park’s most popular hiking trail. The
trail offers most visitors a perfect opportunity to get better acquainted
with the area’s rich woodlands and vistas\, that on clear days span ove
r 80 miles into the neighboring states of both North and South Carolina\,
as well as Tennessee.\nBlack Rock Lake Trail\nThe loop around scenic Black
Rock Lake\, completed in 2007\, is a wonderful addition to the park’s t
rail system. The 17-acre lake is unspoiled by development and is rimmed by
forests of white pine and yellow poplar. Wooden bridges cross Taylor Cree
k and Greasy Creek\, the two cascading streams that feed Black Rock Lake\,
and an 80-foot bridge spans Cricket Cove on the lake’s southwest corner
.\nJames E. Edmond Trail\nThis trail is quite steep in a number of places.
In laurel-filled coves\, the trail follows cascading streams with small w
aterfalls. In the northernmost section of the park\, the trail climbs to t
he summit of Lookoff Mountain and offers a stunning vista of Wolffork Vall
