SUMMARY:Appalachian Trail (AT) Woody Gap to Neels Gap - #_LOCATIONNAME - 26
  Apr 25 08:00

 fficult)\nCost: $15 per person\nHike Leader: Rony\n\nPlease note this is N
OT a beginners hike and not open for new hikers to Atlanta Hikes. Any new

This hike is part of Section 3 of the Appalachian Trail. Please note the
elevation profile so that you can observe that this is a fairly difficult
Appalachian Trail hike as it involves a climb over Blood Mountain. Blood M
tn is the 4th highest mountain in Georgia. We will shuttle cars leaving so
me at Neels Gap and some at Woody Gap.\n\nThere is quite a bit of elevatio
n change in this hike. The highest continuous climb is about 1600 feet whi
ch is about the 2 times the elevation gain of Stone Mountain. Where we sta
rt\, depends on whether people would prefer a steep uphill climb and more
gentle downhill or a more gentle uphill and steep downhill.\n\nWe won’t
be driving on the Forestry roads at all as both gaps are on paved roads\,
so this hike will also be much easier on the cars.\n\nRequired Items:\nDay
pack\nGood hiking shoes or boots\nLayered Clothing/ poncho or rain jacket\
n2 liters of water (no less)\nEnergy Snacks\, fruits and lunch\n$15 for th
 e driver\n\nRecommended Items:\nHiking Poles or stick\nCamera\nSunglasses
